Why pH balanced floral foam is important to your flowers?

Floral foam is a material used as a base in floral arrangements? Why pH balanced is so important to your fresh cut flowers?

Why pH balanced floral foam is important to your flowers?
pH deals with the acidity in the soil and water. They could have to much acid in either one. To much acid cn kill flowers and too little will kill them also. I work in a greenhouse and we have to watch what we use on the plants.
Reply:The acidic foam caused stem burning and damages the vascular system, impeding water uptake %26amp; cut short of life span of fresh cut flowers. Check with ASPAC foam - the balanced pH foam for more info. Report It

Homemade floral arrangement?

To save money I would like to make my own floral arangements for my wedding with the help of my family and bridal party( they voluteered). Does anyone know of any good books or web sites that have how-to instructions?

We are growing most of the flowers our selves. (Hydrangias/ roses/ tulips)

Homemade floral arrangement?
I found a few site for you. If you are using fresh flowers you may want to practice with some cheap bouquets that you can buy at the grocery store. Using fresh is a bit more tricky and using silks.

Good luck!

Reply:My mom and I did this for my wedding. We went to Hobby Lobby and bought a book. Everyone at the wedding commented on how lovely they were and wanted to know where we got them. Use a little imagination also, get the basic idea, but do what looks good to you.
Reply:We did them for my niece%26#039;s wedding last June. The flowers were bought at Costco. It was a lot of fun, just make sure you have a refrigerator to keep them in until you are ready. We ended up putting them in ice chests because the commercial refrigerator we were supposed to get access to wasn%26#039;t available. The bride%26#039;s bouquet had to be redone because it fell apart but no one noticed.

Where can I take a floral arrangement (amateur) class in the Atlanta, GA metro area?

My mother and I would like to take a class in floral arrangement. But, we are not trying to be certified or anything too major. Maybe a few weeks of classes a couple times a week. We%26#039;re taking a cake decorating class at Michael%26#039;s, but they don%26#039;t have floral classes going on right now. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks!

Where can I take a floral arrangement (amateur) class in the Atlanta, GA metro area?
Your local high school may offer a night course in flower arranging. Also, local garden centers often do this, so you may wish to call around to the nurseries in your area. Also try the co-operative extension for your county, because they may also offer a course. Have fun!

The floral arrangement I paid to be delivered to my mom, 2000 miles from me, were not sent, what to do????

I went to a local florist in a small town in California to send a mothers day floral arrangement to my mom, who lives in a small town in Ohio. Even though I ordered and paid in cash on Monday they scheduled delivery for the following Saturday, after promising delivery between 8 a.m. and noon at noon they informed me that it might take till six since its a holiday delivery. At around 4 they advised me they would be delivering until 8 pm. My mom is in her 70%26#039;s and perfers being asleep by 7. I%26#039;m so frustrated at this pont my mom has no flowers and the shop in Ohio does not deliver on Motheres Day. Any suggestions??? Oh, by the way this cost about sevanty dollars to expirence. Ideas?????

If they guaranteed delivery, you may have some recourse for a refund...however...in the future , you may find it more benficial , not be mention cheaper to call a florist in Ohio yourself. Do a little research on the web and find one near mom and call them direct, most florists have toll free numbers, then you can find out what they have in stock and if and when they can deliver it:)
Reply:i would sue .. or ask for money back .. BE FORCEFUL!!
Reply:GET A REFUND FROM TH EFLORAL WHERE YOU HAD THE FLOWERS SENT IS THE BEST IDEA I HAVE,SORRY I AM OF NO BETTER HELP
Reply:call them back on Tuesday get your money back and make them send her 2 sets for free . just for the mess they maid. they will do it. ( maybe you should throw in a cry here and there) it might work.

PLEASE Tell me the truth what do you Think Of This Floral Arrangement Decor?

I have been doing A lot of floral arrangements , because I just cant afford them in the store. Not the ones I want , they are like Hundreds of dollars. I like the huge arrangements and the big pretty flowers , and the really nice Pots , or Vas%26#039;s. So If you could tell me if this is something you would buy , or something that you would see in A hobby store I just want to see if I%26#039;m any good. Thanks

PLEASE Tell me the truth what do you Think Of This Floral Arrangement Decor?
Yes floral arrangements are quite expensive to purchase and hard to find something decent. The fun part is making them and that can also be quite expensive, especially when you are looking for realistic blossoms. I think you are pretty good.

I really like the 3rd one in the box and the mantle pieces. The reason that I like the 3rd one is because it is a little more realistic and a bit lighter. And the placement is good. I think you might want to move it to an area where it is not so squished in though.

The other box with the ivy is pretty, but is general. You are using your creativity with your choices in containers.

Keep working on it. I think they are better than what I have seen lately in hobby stores. So, good luck.

I am not the hugest fan of silk arrangements but if they look real, I will use them in small doses. I also like to fill in a few real ones with some of the silks. Usually for a quick fix in smaller vases. Keep your confidence up. You do good work.
Reply:Hey, they all look pretty good to me.
Reply:I really like the third, and the last ones. I copy everything and do it myself too.
Reply:Not a fan of the ivy, but the others are really nice, especially the last one.
Reply:I buy my arrangements from a person that does the arrangements for FTD Florists, Bert Ford. He is so talented so here goes:

I didn%26#039;t like the one under the sofa table. It lacked imagination.

They ivy coming out of the basket is common.

I didn%26#039;t like the glass vase one on the wall.

I loved the other two. You did a nice job and I%26#039;d buy them.

I wanted to give you an honest answer and not sugar coat it.

Question about a floral arrangement of tulips that I made!!!!?

Hi! I%26#039;m very inexperienced in making floral arrangements, but I did one today for the first time (for Mother%26#039;s Day). Anyway, it%26#039;s of tulips (all tulips, as that%26#039;s the only flower she%26#039;s not allergic to), and I pulled off some of the leaves that were all cruddy and brown. Will that make the flowers die more quickly? I figured that the leaves were already dead, so taking them off wouldn%26#039;t hurt. Not to mention, it looked horrible with the dead leaves. I also cut the flowers at an angle and put them in a vase. What I%26#039;m wondering is, what temperature of water do I put in? Do you put hot water (like a Christmas tree) or cold? Is there anything I should put in the water to make them last longer? Thank you sooooooo much! Immediate help is appreciated because she%26#039;ll be home in like a half-hour. THANK YOU!

Question about a floral arrangement of tulips that I made!!!!?
Removing dead leaves should benefit the arrangement rather than hurting it. Cutting at an angle is good as well. I believe lukewarm water with half a teaspoon of sugar will help prolong the life of the flowers.
Reply:cold water....not hot it is best if cold water is put in

Fresh floral arrangement: Gel instead of water?

I am making the floral arrangements/centerpieces for an upcoming party. I plan on using fresh flowers, but I%26#039;d like to place them in a gel rather than water. The reason is that I would like to place gold leaf in the gel so it will catch the candlelight and create a wonderful shimmer effect. After some Googling, all I can find is a gel for artificial or dried flowers. Any suggestions?

Fresh floral arrangement: Gel instead of water?
it want work with freash flowers the will wilt. they will need water to drink
Reply:Check out the following sites, the first one is cubes of gel to use as flower support and the second is actual gel to keep the flowers as fresh as possible. Each has possibilities!

Can someone give me a summary of the eight basic arrangements in floral design?

yes, i know theres sites that show it, I have a presentation coming up and Id like to get some feedback of how I should present this info on this part of the presentation. I say the naem of arrangement, and basically what it consists of and how it looks and everything. I just cant put it into words to describe it all..If someone would please help me out, it would be nice :-)

Can someone give me a summary of the eight basic arrangements in floral design?
I would put each type of arrangement on separate boards. On each board, put some pictures of actual arrangements that represent that type and also put the large corresponding basic shape on it (like a Round arrangement picture and a round circle). This is as basic as it gets and it gets your point across. Seeing actual arrangements and the basic shapes will help people correlate the type of arrangement with what its supposed to look like.

HELP! I need to know what the artificial water resin is called that is used to make floral arrangements?

The water looks real but is faux. Can you buy this in stores? What is it called. I can%26#039;t find this information anywhere!

HELP! I need to know what the artificial water resin is called that is used to make floral arrangements?
It%26#039;s called a %26quot;floral setting resin%26quot; ---it%26#039;s a %26quot;soft%26quot; version of a 2-part epoxy resin (which cures very hard).

You can buy various brands of it at a craft store (in the floral dept.), or online, or perhaps in hobby or art supply stores too.

I have a bunch of info about these kinds of resins on the %26quot;Resins%26quot; page at my website if you want to find exact brand names, as well as info on how to use this kind of resin, etc.:

Reply:The product is called Everlasting Elegance. Instructions are in the kit.
Reply:It%26#039;s a liquid acrylic, comes in a kit, you mix it and pour it into your vase. Once the acrylic has hardened, it%26#039;s permanent and you can%26#039;t reuse the vase. I have not personally used it, but I know people who have and it%26#039;s pretty easy. It may be called Water Illusion or Illusion Water. Ask at your craft store, and here%26#039;s a link for you:

http://www.floralillusions.com/acrylic_
Reply:Both previous answers are correct, I have used it for putting into vases and it is extremly easy. Just mix the two products provided together and let it dry.

I tried using it for a flat panel to put on the back of a bead purse but it is extremly heavy when dried and it really nevery gets rid of it%26#039;s sticky to the touch feeling. It will also keep fingerprints if touched after it is dried.

You can buy it at any large craft store like Michaels or Hobby Lobby.

Reply:5 years ago I would have said go on do it yourself. I have changed my mind since. It is not that learning what you need is hard it shouldn%26#039;t be and it was ment originally to be easy. The problem is in the details. If you have the time to learn things like web standards, unobtrusive JavaScript, CSS and a server side scripting language like Ruby or PHP then I encourage you to do it on you own. The problem is that most business don%26#039;t have the time. There also some issues now that were not a problem several years ago that as web website owner you shoulb be aware of. I am going to send you to several resources so that you are an educated consumer. They also will give you an idea of what you need beyond the basics of HTML and layout. Go to this site http://www.boagworld.com/standards this is a presentation about standards presented in a way that a lay person can understand. After that look at http://www.gotomedia.com/downloads/clien... This is a link to a checklist it is aimed at redesign but some of the same issues should be examined at the initial design time. Finally there are now legal issues that need to considered this link http://www.nfb.org/nfb/NewsBot.asp?MODE=... is about a ruling against Target concerning their accessability to the blind. A very good site to learn about this issue is http://www.webaim.org. A checklist is also available from the W3C at http://www.w3.org/TR/WAI-WEBCONTENT/full...
Reply:It is better to contact any local web designer for your website. If you want write your own, you have to take some more time to learn HTML, CSS, javascript and if you want server side scripting, you need to learn some other server script also.

Reply:I bought the book %26quot;Creating Web Pages for Dummies%26quot; by Bud Smith and Arthur Bebak , 5th edition and published by IDG Books Worldwide out of Chicago and New York among other places. It comes with a CD-ROM that gives you step-by-step instructions on how to build a website, advertise it, add music and graphics, etc. It was $24.99 in the US; $37.99 in Canada, and 23.99 Pounds in the UK.

The CD plays on Windows 95 or later, Windows NT4 or later, or a 68040 Mac running O.S.7.5.5 or later (all Greek to me. LOL)

Then, if you need lessons in this , there is another book called %26quot;HTML 4 For Dummies,%26quot; too. I got this latter one to try to write my own codes for MySpace layouts, but haven%26#039;t had the courage. HA.

You can get these at any bookstore (maybe even newer editions because I%26#039;ve had the Web Pages book for a couple years at least), through Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble, etc.

How do florists come up with the prices they charge for silk floral arrangements?

The same way anyone else does: cost of materials, time to create the arrangement plus overhead (wages, insurance, utilities, taxes, capital expenses, etc.) plus perhaps a premium for the %26quot;intellectual%26quot; property that goes into creating an artistic item.

Most florists will use a higher quality of silk floral pieces for their arrangements than you buy at the typical dollar store. They are also using newer, perhaps something trendier items than the ones you see at the local dollar store.

How do florists come up with the prices they charge for silk floral arrangements?
by trying to butt ra** people...they are way to expensive for something than can easily be done yourself
Reply:The general rule is to figure cost of materials and times by 3,however, when it comes to charging for one%26#039;s creativity, the artist is free to charge what he likes.

Where do i look for decorating ideas, e.g. floral arrangements, ribbons for a ribbon cutting ceremony?

You should contact a local florist. Many of them are part of the FTD or 1800 flowers groups. These associations often have books given out to florists of the various floral arrangements that are regularly sold (and which each florist can replicate).

Are silk or dried flowers better to use in floral arrangements?

dried flowers have a special place in interior floral arrangements. Silk flowers must be selected very carefully, lest your arrangement have a cheap and crass look.

Live potted flowering plants are best as the color and often scent will enhance the decor of any area where placed. Cut flowers are probably the most popular in floral arrangements, they just don%26#039;t last

Reply:you could always combine the two together. I used to pick the dried flowers as a filler and used the selected silk flower as the focal point. I would then lightly scent the flower arrangement with some of my favorite Cologne.
Reply:used to co-own a flower shop and I can tell you that it all depends on what you intend to use the arrangement for (such as an event) and for how long. For long-term, home use, I would recommend a dried arrangement, but keep in mind that some dried flowers attract moths - which can lead to a host of problems. Silk is a nice alternative. You can find lots of silk flowers that look real and have amazing color. If the flowers are for a picnic or get-together, I would go with fresh. An empty coffee can or oversized coffee mug make nice containers.
Reply:i think so fresh flowers are the best but dried flowers stays longer
Reply:I find dried flowers a real pain. If you accidentally knock them or touch them at the wrong place, they break off and you have all kinds of bits and pieces flying around. You never want to have your windows open because even a breeze can send them into oblivion.

If you are going to do an arrangement of artificial flowers, silk is definitely the best way to go. Nowadays they are so real looking you can hardly tell they are artificial.

CARNATIONS

Reply:Babys breath is a great gap filler. (It%26#039;s those sprigs of little white flowers) Also daffidols are cheap when in season, and Iris%26#039;s last for a long time when cared for.

Palm fronds cut to size and shape are great behind flowers in a vase.
Reply:Carnations
Reply:They don%26#039;t come much cheaper than the next door neighbours garden. Or, if you are looking for something a bit more exotic, check out the local botanical gardens :)
Reply:The ferns from asparagus are beautiful for greenery as well. I also use boxwood for greenery. As far as flowers, carnations last very well.
Reply:Try Gerbera Daisies. They%26#039;re inexpensive to grow yourself and they have a long shelf life in a flower arrangement. They%26#039;re also sturdy and versatile. Remember to include plastic tubes over the stems of Gerberas because they continue to grow long after they%26#039;ve been cut and placed into a flower arrangement. Leather leaf fern is one of the most popular and versatile choices for greenery. Good luck to you.

Reply:carnations! mums! both fairly inexpensive and you can tint them to whatevr color you choose.

simply add a drop or two of food coloring to the water they are in and the flower will change color!

daisies and freesia are fairly inexpensive as well.

and for greenery use greenery out of your garden! whether it be from a small shrub, tree, or wild growth, its free and works well!

have fun with your flower arranging.

Is there a household item that helps preserve floral arrangements in water other then sugar? (ant problem)?

I know that you don%26#039;t want answers with sugar in them, but this does seem to be the best answer:

Mix 1 teaspoon sugar, 1 teaspoon bleach, and 2 tablespoons lemon or lime juice in a quart of warm water. Warm water is important because it’s more easily absorbed. However, cold weather blooms, such as tulips, thrive in cold vase water.

I was told aspirin!

How do you dry hydrangeas for dry floral arrangements? Any tricks for keeping their colors?

the two that answered above are both right. You can use silica or you can dry them naturally and use hairspray. One thing that is important, if you live in a part of the country that has high humidity. If so, they flowers tend to die before they dry and go brown.

If you decide to hang them upside down, make sure its in the dark so the colour doesn%26#039;t fade.

How do you dry hydrangeas for dry floral arrangements? Any tricks for keeping their colors?
silica will remove moisture and retain color. You can also send them to professionals and have them dried (i.e. check the net for places) I have a friend who does this for a living. Many people send wedding bouquets, special occasion flowers etc.
Reply:once you cut the flower, hang them separately upside down. once they are dry you can go the inexpensive way by spraying them with hair spray. the aerosol kind usually works best.

Does your cat wage a war against floral arrangements? Biting? Tipping vases over?

Accidentally on purpose of course.

Does your cat wage a war against floral arrangements? Biting? Tipping vases over?
I have a cat named Sputnik who is 21 years old. She%26#039;s still feisty! As a kitten she was a tiny terrorist in fur. Her favorite games were: grab the toilet paper in your teeth and run through the house, wrapping everything in TP as you go. Her second favorite game: doing the same thing with the paper toweling. No piece of mail, canceled check, or daily newspaper was safe from shredding. My first question upon arrival home was %26quot;What did Sputnik wreck today?%26quot; She was a mini Tazmanian devil without depth perception, managing to knock everything over.

We finally learned to kitty-proof the house. Anything not nailed down was fair game. It was good practive before we had kids.

She also liked to bite. When she bit me, I just quit playing with her. And since she loved to play, she eventually quit biting.

She%26#039;s the greatest cat that%26#039;s ever lived--and she still has spunk to spare! Be prepared for twenty more years of bliss....
Reply:Used to like to chew on plant leaves (can be dangerous) because he knew he wasn%26#039;t supposed to, eat tinsel from tree, been known to bite a Christmas light cord, (not all the way through), tear the bows off of presents, help out with the cooking a whole lot, help with gift wrapping and on and on. Boo was his name and danger was his game. Boo liked Christmas.
Reply:Of course LOL. I had one who LOVED flowers. He would smell them for a long time, then eat them.
Reply:No. My persian cat is almost an angel.

The only problem is that she likes to sleep in my pillow.
Reply:most of the time their just playing but sometimes if you hurt them they might get angry. Some cats rub on vases including my own cat because their happy but if you chase a cat and they rub against it on their way past they could knock it over. Bye!
Reply:lol if it can be distroyed my cats will do it
Reply:My cat considers plants and flower arrangements to be half playground and half salad bar.
Reply:YES!! All cats will do this at some point whether you see it or not. They are curious, and the ones that dont do this are just lazy or old. But you do need to be careful though cause some plants are poisinous to cats!! that or they will make them very sick. That is the reason that there is rarely any flowers in my house.
Reply:Oh yeah.

My grown kids know not to send me flowers. They have seen flowers with anything that looks like lilies on top of an overturned bucket in the small cold foyer the cats can%26#039;t get to. Well, what were they thinking? The pollen of lilies is poison.

Send me some cat grass. LOL
Reply:Mine doesn%26#039;t do it the least bit accidentally. :-P

What is wet oasis as pertaining to floral arrangements?

Oasis is a special foam used for FRESH floral arrangements. You get it at craft and floral stores. It needs to be soaked in water, to absorb the water, then placed in the bottom of the container the arrangement will be in. It holds the flowers where and how you wnat them and waters the flowers. You add more water to keep the arangement lasting longer.

Sahara is another foam, similar to Oasis, but used for dried and silk floral arrangements. Some people use Styrofaom for silk arrangements as well.

How long is appropriate to keep funeral floral arrangements?

My boss passed away and some people sent flowers to the workplace, how long should i leave them out before taking them down? I don%26#039;t want to be disrespectful and take them down too early, then again don%26#039;t want to be tacky and leave them out too long.

How long is appropriate to keep funeral floral arrangements?
I really don%26#039;t think there%26#039;s a set rule. You may want to offer them to your boss%26#039;s family, %26amp; if they say no thanks, just go ahead %26amp; take them down.

I don%26#039;t think you%26#039;ll offend anyone. Everyone else may be thinking the same thing! Besides if the flowers are starting to die, that may make everyone more depressed, anyway. Good question, tho. Sorry about your loss. :(
Reply:donate them to a hospital, you may brighten some poor dying persons day?
Reply:If everybody loved your boss, you could dry them and put them in a clear jar and make it a decoration for everyone to remember. It%26#039;ll just look like potpourri to customers.

I did this with my mother%26#039;s flowers from her funeral.
Reply:Take them down when they are wilted.
Reply:Well, if they are green plants you can repot them if necessary and keep them out. That%26#039;s nice. As far as the flowers go, they die pretty quickly. I%26#039;d say toss them out once they are no longer attractive.
Reply:hell , keep them til they rot. I never could figure out why epople send flowers when someone dies. The flowers die eventually and it looks really depressing..a buncha dead flowers cluttering up your home.
Reply:I%26#039;d keep them up as long as they look good. You can also toss the bad blooms and consolidate the good ones into fewer vases. Make sure you save the cards and see that the family gets them so they can send a %26quot;thank-you.%26quot; If the family hasn%26#039;t seen them, I%26#039;d put a brief description of the arrangement on the back of the card so, when they respond, they can refer to a particular flower, i.e. %26quot;and the Gerber daisies were beautiful.%26quot;
Reply:cut flowers should be got rid of when they look dead or start to look that way . live plants should be cared for as best as possible and if its not possible for them to make it in the building then send them to the wife / husband or give them to someone you know was friends with the boss

after you remove the cut flowers some of the cards could arranged in a nice way and kept in place for a longer time say one month or 3 weeks after a new boss comes in .
Reply:leave them for two weeks unless the flowers die or start to smell bad. usually one or 2 weeks u should keep them but keep a Pic of him or her.Or ask your co workers .
Reply:A week and a half to two weeks.
Reply:i%26#039;d say a week
Reply:When they turn ratty looking--ditch them.
Reply:Until they die.
Reply:You can keep them until they are fresh...and yes you can also donate good Ono%26#039;s to the old people houses or hospitals. It will fresh up someone else place as well.
Reply:less than a week
Reply:Until they are passed their best. It seems such a shame to throw them when they are still good.
Reply:Offer them to the family %26amp; if they refuse or suggest you keep or dispose of the flowers/plants, then leave them out. I kept 2 of the floral arrangements from my grandma%26#039;s funeral until they dried up, about a month. I also have the fern that a distant relative sent in a big pot on my side porch. It%26#039;s thriving %26amp; doing well.

If the flowers start to look wilted, droopy or you notice an odor, then toss them out. Otherwise, keep them out until the flowers are dried out.

Where can I find pictures of floral arrangements from the greek period (600-146bc?

the Greek Period involved flowers designed into garlands and wreaths that were either worn or carried. Wreaths, as symbols of allegiance and dedication, were important religious tributes and awards to athletic and military heroes, but everyone wore them for festivals. Flowers were also worn in the hair for personal adornment, and small, fragrant wreaths were often exchanged between lovers. The form and etiquette for the use of floral wreaths in Greek society were so important that designers were officially designated and rules were written. Another important design from the Greek Period is the cornucopia (horn of plenty), a horn shaped basket filled with flowers, fruits, and vegetables and carried upright in parades as a symbol of abundance. This design is still in use today with the same symbolism, although it is now arranged on its side.

your local florist should sell or be able to get silk flower cleaner. it is an aerosol can usually costs about 5.00 to 6.00 bucks. you just spray it on and it just %26quot;eats%26quot; the dust away. it really works well Report It

Average weddings costs for tux rental, floral arrangements at the church?

The average tux rental is between $100 and $200. My husband has been in 8 weddings and it%26#039;s usually $125. Floral arrangements at the church can be around $75 to $200+ depending on how big they are. Some people get two large ones and reuse them at the reception, which I think is best.

Average weddings costs for tux rental, floral arrangements at the church?
I know that If you use David%26#039;s bridal you can get you tux rental for free I think that is if she gets her dress there.
Reply:Tuxes can be $59 and up, depending upon if you want designer or not. The average is probably $100.

I used two or three floral arrangements at the church - probably $60 each, I think. We used them at the head table at the reception site.
Reply:tux rentals here are under $100. like about $60 -$80. I spent about $300 total on flowers (bouquets, bout, coursages, etc.)
Reply:I don%26#039;t know the answer but I guarntee you that I will not be spending over $3000 for my wedding next year. I am going to do a lot of things on my own like invitations, food, flowers. etc.
Reply:Floral arrangements for the church (altar) need to be large or they get lost. It is difficult to get anything appropriate for under 200.00 USD, unless the church is very small ...then the arrangements can be smaller.

Usually, 2 arrangements are needed. You might also check with your church. Some denominations require that the arrangements remain at the church as an %26quot;offering%26quot; for the services the next day. (The Episcopal %26amp; Roman Catholic Churches often do this.)

You can save yourself at least half the cost by doing the flowers yourself. Really, it%26#039;s not that difficult.

In fact, most brides will do at least some of their own wedding flowers.

How long do hydrangeas last in floral arrangements?

I%26#039;m hoping to use a small bunch of hydrangeas in my aisle decorations for my wedding but have heard that they may die quickly.

Is using hydrangeas for my wedding a good idea or bad idea?

How long do hydrangeas last in floral arrangements?
Hydrangeas will probably last as long as any other cut flower in a bouquet as long as their stems are kept moist, they are kept cool and are not picked until the last moment.

If you want to keep hydrangeas longer, they are best picked when their colour is starting to fade slightly and the blooms are mature (they take on a kind of white, almost waxy appearance at this time, although they still have almost full colour). If you harvest them then, they will keep longer and can also be successfully dried. When dry they will still have their colour too.

Reply:I started out typing directions on how to make a basket floral arrangement. When my answer got to be mini book length, I realized I can%26#039;t teach you in this forum. Let me make a simpler suggestion. Get a teddy bear, small wooden blocks. and 2 sizes of baby bottles.and a piece of Styrofoam. Attach the bear to the foam with a wire around the bend of it%26#039;s legs, when it is sitting down. Set the tall bottle behind him for support ( hot glue will work on plastic bottles ) Set ( with hot glue )the 2 smaller bottles around the larger bottle. Stack the blocks in a pleasing way in the empty spaces around the bottles and the bear. Wrap the side of the foam block with decorative ribbon and fill in the empty spaces around the bear and the bottles and blocks with some cellophane shred. Fill the bottles with water and insert daisies. Use yellow and white. We used to sell these in the floral shop for major bucks. I hope I was clear with my instructions. You see, it takes no floral skills.

Most flowers in bud form may take up to three days to open. go to the library and there will be loads of books on this subject. Some though may be quite dated. give these a miss and look for the modern ones. Meanwhile get yourself some oasis,a few blooms and any available greenery and away you go.it will come naturally to you, since you seem to have the interest. Add a candle for added interest and you.ve got your first centre-piece. you can develop from this. good luck,

How do I sell fake floral arrangements?

I recently began making fake floral arrangements and found I%26#039;m really good at it. I have a glass jar in my room I filled with sand and rocks and different types and colors of flowers. After seeing mine, I went with my friend to Michael%26#039;s and I made one for her because she really wanted one too. This weekend, I just made a fall wreath for my mom after she saw a similiar one in Michael%26#039;s. Instead of paying $65 for it, we bought the stuff and I made it for about $20-$25. Both my friend and my mom said I should start making these and selling them but I%26#039;m not sure how to go about advertising that I make these. How should I get the word out there that I make these fake floral arrangements?

How do I sell fake floral arrangements?
Hi, my first suggestion would be to get yourself some business cards. I make and sell Fabric Wall Art, and being a stay at home mum i do not have a very big budget for advertising so i got my business cards from http://www.vistaprint.com and they are rather cheap. I live in Australia and they cost me $9 for 250, you can choose from so many premade templates they have, all you have to do is put your own info on it. These guys are worldwide so i does not matter where you live.

You could do the craft stalls ect as already suggested, but the best thing to do would be get your own website. There are ecommerce place like http://www.etsy.com ect that you can sell on that do not charge to much. I am very lucky that my friends husband works it IT and has done me my website http://www.kimtdesigns.com for free. I would not have it otherwise because i could not afford it. I also go through www.shopify.com. It was free to start with but now they charge a monthly fee. I am not sure what your budget is, so do check out http://www.shopify.com as it is a really good site to build your own website and it is very easy.

Well i hope this has helped you a little and if you need anymore advice you can email me at my website. Have fun From Kim @ Kim T Designs
Reply:have you tried ebay?
Reply:That is great! Around this time of the year, there are lots of cities or civic groups who have boutiques or craft faires. Think about going outside of your own city when checking. Most times there is a fee to set up a booth. Also, craft shops will sell your arrangements on consignment. Don%26#039;t use the word fake, but silk flower arrangements. If you have friends that do crafts, you could do a boutque in house. Fix it up like a store. Tag items so you know who gets the profit from that item. That can be done with flyers. Maybe, high schoolers can pass them out for a small fee. This is right up my alley. Good Luck!

The types of arrangements that I make are holiday/seasonal, wreaths, and, many other floral arrangements that can be placed around the home.

start with your friends, neighbors, officemates and some referrals from them.
Reply:I would recommend that you start putting up fliers at craft and fabric stories, because then you will be marketing people that are already interested in this. In addition, you could send images to interior decorators, because they might choose to market your product to their client. Good luck!

What floral arrangements or centerpieces can I do with Tiffany Blue?

I really want to have a Tiffany Blue wedding but I%26#039;m not sure what floral arrangements or centerpieces that will look good. I love fresh flowers so I would like to have them. My colors are Tiffany Blue and Brown.

What floral arrangements or centerpieces can I do with Tiffany Blue?
Talk to a florist-they have really creative ideas.
Reply:Pale pink looks lovely with the tiff%26#039;s blue and brown. Imagine glass cube vases with soft pink spray roses, soft pink stock, white hydrangea, white roses, soft pink waxflower, queen annes lace for a beautiful romantic garden look... brown napkins... A favor wrapped like a tiffanys box with the white bow at each plate. to tie in the look.. :-)
Reply:Try some of these ideas:

1. Tiffany blue daisies:

http://www.save-on-crafts.com/tiffanyblu...

2. http://www.wedding-decoration-idea.com/a...

%26quot;**For a more dramatic, striking decor, match up the Tiffany blue with shiny black and silver. Go with a formal theme for this - pure elegance with sleek centerpieces. Skip the flowers and float balloons at each table - black, white and Tiffany blue.

**Deep, rich jewel tones are a wonderful accent to the bright sky blue of Tiffany boxes. Try a shimmering satin in burgundy, or a rich, deep emerald.

**For a more lighthearted look, choose jellybean green and white to set off the aqua. Play it out with favors of Lucite gift boxes filled with JellyBelly jellybeans in honeydew and berry, all wrapped up with a Tiffany blue satin bow.

**Create a backdrop for white flowers and blue ribbons with chocolate brown tablecloths. Fill Tiffany blue round bandboxes with chocolates, and top with tulle-wrapped Jordan almonds in blue and white.%26quot;

3. Go with baby pastels or white flowers, and accent with tiffany blue crystals, ribbon or even glitter

4. A large, clear glass candleholder (hurricane lantern type?) in the center of the table with tiffany blue glass beads in the bottom and a white candle would be beautiful for a centerpiece.

5. Or, a large martini glass filled with blue jellybeans and/or blue jordan almonds...

6. http://weddings.theknot.com/odb/Results....
Reply:Blue conveys peace and tranquility. I would go with a lot of white and a few pale blue flowers in the arrangement in a translucent vase. You can fill the vase with marbles or colored stones which add a nice touch too.

Reply:I think it would be best to stick with shades of creme for your flowers. Larger arrangmeents of calla lilies, peonies, roses, and tulips would look lovely in a silver urn or caniset. Mix in some foliage of hanging green armathus and greens.

Have some cystal sparys through out the arrangments, table top linens in Tiffany blue with brown napkins and silver chargers would be lovely.

Does floral arrangements school exits?

i want to learn how to make floral arrangements, but i don%26#039;t know where, can you help me please.

Does floral arrangements school exits?
Many Adult night courses run floral courses. I was thinking of taking one just to know how to do it. ICS runs one in Canada that you can do at home. If you can%26#039;t find one being offered in your home town this could be the answer a long-distance education course.
Reply:how about a school where they teach grammar and spelling?
Reply:Check out your local comunity colege. They will have information on this. If they do not offer the classes they will tell you who would in that area.
Reply:Yes they do exist, some colleges will arrange them thru local florist. However allot of it is natural ability, and having a good eye for floral arrangements, allot of people just pick it up on their own, get some silk flowers and mess around with them.

I attended a class thru ITT at a local florist years ago but a good eye and natural ability is better than any class, as well as the right supplies. Don%26#039;t be afraid to try it on your own.
Reply:yes they r different schools for many different topics
Reply:Absolutely I am a retired florist and I graduated from one in 1968. look in your phone book for Floral Design Schools if you are near Kansas City Missouri Stucky%26#039;s has one in Chicago IL is the American Floral Design School to mention a couple. Also a lot of Jr Colleges give classes on floral designing.
Reply:Depends where you from. there is school such as

and I am sure many schools offer classes to do that. Try to google it online, I am sure you can find a lot of them. If you like it as a habit, you can try to get some books or DVDs. Believe or not, some of them give you enough details to get you started.
